During the last few years, we’ve seen unprecedented growth in the use of Medical Marijuana across the state of New York. While state legislations have played an important role in influencing this growth, the growing confidence of the users should also be accredited for this. While users are starting to embrace Medical Marijuana, there still are some fears and doubts that pollute their mind against the use of the medical herb.
We’ll shed some light on these fears here, and look to eradicate the doubt that most patients suffer from, when it comes to the use of Medical Marijuana.
FEAR 1: MEDICAL MARIJUANA IS DIRTY
One of the biggest doubts keeping people away from using Medical Marijuana is the perceived concept that the medication is a drug. Most people think of Marijuana as a dirty drug that they should abstain from. The very same people are, however, willing to take Oxycodone opioids on the recommendation of their medical practitioner.
The fact of the matter is that Medical Marijuana available in New York is smoke-free, and no one can recognize that you’re using it. The only change promised by the drug is on the medical front, as it holds great potential in countering many diseases and conditions. State providers often come with a lack of information on the selected topic, due to which they are unable to give an unbiased perspective.
FEAR 2: YOU WILL BE CUT OFF FROM YOUR NARCOTICS
Another genuine fear present within most of the patients is that the use of Medical Marijuana would require them to cut-off the intake of narcotics. This fear can be countered by remaining true to your practitioner. Tell them how you plan to use the drug as a means to cut down the intake of these narcotics. Instead of fearing the outcome, try making the process better.
FEAR 3: FAILING DRUG TESTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Most patients think that by using Medical Marijuana, they wouldn’t pass the drug tests that accompany many employment opportunities or that on being found, their current employers would fire them. Fortunately, the tides are turning as more and more conditions are getting qualified for Medical Marijuana use. The New York State is extremely supportive of patients taking the drug and is giving them quicker access among many new and improved facilities.
It is time enough that patients jumped over the fear that serves as an obstacle between them and the fair use of Medical Marijuana. Many patients cannot manage their pain and face an unsupportive stance from their doctors, because of which they are forced into trying illegal drugs. The way out is not just for patients to recognize the fears and jump over them, but also for practitioners to realize how important it is to give the right prescription to the right people.
Patients have slowly and gradually started taking control over their life. Telemedicine helps patients take control over their life. Practitioners are also catching on and estimates suggest that more than 1600 practitioners are registered in New York alone.
WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS?
The future for Medical Marijuana might lead towards unchartered territory, but a few salient expectations can be made. One can expect proper legalization and better access during the future. Moreover, cheaper prices and funding for dispensaries would be the right way to go for regulatory authorities in the future.
